3 Reasons Why Parent Coaching is the Ultimate Small Business for Parents

Let’s be honest, parenting and work are often at odds with each other. Schedules collide, demands compete with each other and at the end of the day many of us are left feeling like we’re not really succeeding at either role.

We naturally begin to long for work that would allow us more freedom in our schedules so we can be there for all the important moments in our children’s lives. We want to be there to drop them off and pick them up from school, go to their games and recitals and just generally spend more of our precious time with them.

The challenge is that many of the work from home options that exist either require technical skills or have limited earning potential. Some of the ‘no skills required’ or multi-level marketing (MLM) options that promise income that would replace an existing living wage or higher, rarely deliver on their promises.

Parent coaching is a clear stand out for parents seeking a true opportunity to contribute to their family’s income or support themselves and their children, all while doing deeply meaningful work. Below you will find the top three reasons why becoming a parent coach might be the incredible opportunity you’ve been looking for.

1) Full Schedule Freedom

When you own a coaching business, you can set the schedule you want. Want to be available until after school drop offs? No problem. Need to make room for yoga? Put it in your calendar and work around it. Weekends off? Absolutely. Summers with the kids? Plan ahead to ensure your clients or groups are scheduled in a way that makes sense for your family time.

As a parenting coach you are the one who sets your schedule, so the flexibility is yours to do with as you wish. Naturally the amount of time you dedicate to your business will be reflected in your rate of growth and income. That’s part of the beauty of this work. You can work as much or as little as you like!

2) Remarkable Income Potential

We all know there is no shortage of parents who need support in the incredibly important task of raising future generations. That’s part of why this opportunity is so incredible. Potential clients are truly everywhere. It’s also why the earning potential is only limited to your time and imagination.

Your rates as a parent coach will be set by you, within the parameters of the overall market. What does that mean? It means that depending on your location, what you’re offering, previous professional experience (it’s not required but it can come into play here), on average our parent coaches charge somewhere between $1200-$2400 for 12 sessions. At the top end, we have coaches charging $3500 for a package to work with them.

The earning potential in the coaching field is well established and like any other profession, as you gain experience you can increase your rates accordingly.

3) The Fulfillment Factor

Doing fulfilling work adds a whole new dimension of satisfaction and purpose to our lives. Parent coaches wake up every day knowing that their work changes the lives of parents and children in profoundly impactful ways.

Parents everywhere are longing to have more peaceful, connected and fun relationships with their children. Parent coaches help them find their way through the challenges and patterns that stand in the way of that, so they can build the kind of family lives they always dreamed they would have. What could be more fulfilling than that?

At the Jai Institute for parenting we always say, “Parent coaching is the only career where your work makes you better at your parenting and your parenting makes you better at your work!”

So if you are passionate about parenting and you feel drawn to a career where you can support others to create the relationships and lives they want with their children,
parent coaching could be the ultimate small business for you!
